Marty Morrissey Ray D'Arcy Show National Ploughing Championships

What more of a hook do you need?

The National Ploughing Championships light up Offaly next week, and there’s only one man to turn to for the essential rundown of what to expect.

That’s why Marty Morrissey, joined by Aine Lawlor, will take to the couch on The Ray D’Arcy Show this Saturday night to get their hands dirty for a special preview.

Elsewhere on the show, celebrated actor Stephen Rea will discuss his role in Black 47, with the famine-set revenge drama currently number one at the Irish box office.

Ray will also host an exclusive chat with Senator Lynn Ruane as the social activist reveals the intimate details of her new memoir People Like Me.

Transgender actor Rebecca Root, the first trans actor to play a trans role in a professional Irish play, will talk about that experience as well as her upcoming Hollywood roles alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Joaquin Phoenix.

Ray will also hear from photographer Gerry Mooney, who got the royal seal of approval this week when his photograph of Meghan Markle was personally chosen to don the Duchess’ birthday ‘Thank You’ card.

The Ray D’Arcy Show airs Saturday night – 15 September – at 9.50pm on RTÉ One
