It was very public knowledge that the casting net thrown around the world by Disney to find their new big screen Prince Ali was a HUGE one.
Thousands and thousands of people were considered for the role in the new live-action retelling of Aladdin, and after months of searching, Disney and director/co-writer Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) went with Mena Massoud.
His biggest role to date was a recurring character in Amazon's action drama Jack Ryan, but after this, expect to see a lot more of him.
JOE was lucky enough to sit down with the rising star, and we chatted about everything from how difficult it is to sing, dance, AND do stunts in the same scene, his immediate chemistry with co-star Naomi Scott, and working with Will Smith's Genie even when he wasn't actually there.
Plus, we had to ask the question about Smith's hair decision, and Massoud's answer does not disappoint.
