Even more Creed? Bring. It. On!

While the slogan “I Wanna Be Like Mike” was originally coined for the great Michael Jordan, it’s equally applicable to the wonderful Michael B. Jordan because as stated time and time again, we’re massive fans of the Black Panther star.

Aside form being an extremely talented actor – his turns as Wallace in The Wire, Vince Howard in Friday Night Lights and Oscar in the magnificent Fruitvale Station – the New Jersey star has been one of the very first people to commit to the idea of using an inclusion rider on all his projects – more about that here.

This being said, his career moved into the stratosphere with the on-two punch of Creed and Black Panther but with a sequel set for release this year, it appears that there’s plenty more of Adonis Creed’s story to tell.

In fact, Jordan has hinted that he might not be hanging up his gloves after Creed II is released.

In an interview with the Toronto Sun, he was asked if he fancied matching Sylvester Stallone’s longitivtiy as Rocky – Stallone has played ‘The Italian Stallion’ for 42 years  now – and Jordan said that he’d be happy to return to the ring, if the story is right.

“If I’m lucky. I want to keep making them as long as they’re good. I always want to keep my finger on the pulse. Forty two years, I mean, who knows?,” he said.

With regards to Creed II, Ryan Coogler may be gone from the director’s chair but there’s one big name that’s stepping back into the ring, Ivan Drago, and he’s not alone.

As fans of the saga will know, things are deeply personal between the Creed and Drago family after Ivan killed Apollo in Rocky IV and this feud is moving onto the next generation as Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) takes on Victor (Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu)

Sly was very adamant about this one having a villain,” said Jordan.

He adds: “Victor’s storyline is very layered. The two guys are similar in a lot of ways… Adonis feels, naturally, a certain animosity towards Viktor and Ivan, and then there are other themes in there: the maturity of growth, the importance of family, of legacy, is what makes Creed so special. It’s not just about revenge. It’s about a lot of things… If we get that lesson across, then I think we’ve made a pretty special movie.”

We’re expecting Creed II to be a knockout when it’s released on 21 November.
