Yes, there is a correct answer to this.
If you see Michael Peña in a movie, then you already know you’re in for a good time.
He is just one of those actors that immediately elevates the material, whether it is for serious dramas like End of Watch, or absolutely nailing the comic relief role in the Ant-Man movies.
The same goes for his role in the upcoming Tom & Jerry The Movie, in which he plays a grouchy hotel manager who wants his luxurious resort free of cats and mice, regardless of whether or not they’re animated.
We were lucky enough to chat to him in the run-up to the movie’s release, and you can check out our full interview right here:
While we also chatted to him about his incredible stunt-work in the movie (which involved a lot more puppets than we would’ve guessed), as well as a shared longing of wanting to stay in a really opulent hotel room, the big question we had to ask is whether he preferred Tom or Jerry?
“I’m gonna say Jerry, but I understand Tom more and more now that I’m older,” Peña tells us.
“In a way, he’s kinda like the older brother of the whole frenemy situation. And Jerry’s kinda mischievous and whatnot, where it’s a bit ‘I dunno, it’s a little borderline, maybe you shouldn’t do that’.
“But when you’re a kid, you’re just thinking it’s really funny when you get away with certain things.”
Tom & Jerry The Movie is available to watch on PVOD services from Thursday, 25 March.
