Michael Sheen says he’s done with acting as he turns to activism, and fighting the alt-right.

Michael Sheen has announced that he is quitting acting so can fight the rise of the alt-right.

The Welsh actor made the announcement to the Times, saying, “this thing that is on the rise has to be stopped.”

Sheen says that the election of Donald Trump had moved him to take decisive action.

“It’s not going to look like this in 10 years’ time. Everything has shifted. The dice are being rolled again,” he said.

Sheen says he will return to his home town of Port Talbot to co-ordinate efforts to kill off the rising fascism.

The 47-year-old said, “It will be a big change for how people relate to me. Once I’m in, I’m fully in, and this is big. As soon as you start to be effective, then people try to crush you, because it’s dangerous.”

He plans to leave Sarah Silverman, his partner of two years, as well as his family in Los Angeles to return home.

Sheen is currently starring in the film Passengers alongside Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. He is best known for roles in Frost/Nixon and The Damned United, in which he played legendary football manager Brian Clough.
