A brilliant insight into the man…
The word ‘legend’ gets throw about a lot in the age of social media, fan forums and fan TV (we’re looking at you Arsenal), but there’s no other word that can be used to describe Mick O’Dwyer. He is a living legend.
Irish TV viewers were treated to a special documentary on RTÉ One on Monday night, as Micko, a story of Mick O’Dwyer was brought to their screens, completely narrated by the great man himself.
We see the life of Mick O’Dwyer from Micko the footballer, to Micko the manager winning four in a row with Kerry, to Micko managing Laois to a Leinster title, and a whole lot more in between.
"I'm totally addicted to the game… I'll keep at it until I go into the grave"

Micko is still available for viewers on the RTÉ player and is well worth checking out for anyone that missed it on Monday night, or even if you just want to take it all in again.
Watch it from start to finish and you’ll find numerous quote of the year contenders including our early favourite, a description of Bomber Liston, “A great man for the Mars bars and a packet of Smarties.”
It was impossible not to get caught up in the aura of Micko and what he has given to the GAA throughout his lifetime.
