After ten hilarious years, Modern Family is coming to an end.
All of our favourite characters are currently going through the final season, and we’re pretty upset about it.
And as if that wasn’t bad enough, it really will be the end for one character.
As we announced just over a month ago, a major character in Modern Family will be killed off.
A number of fans have been speculating that it will be Stella, the Pritchett family dog, that we would be saying goodbye to.
But it looks like this isn’t the case.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Mitchell on the show, has confirmed that it is a human character who will be killed off.
Speaking to E News, Ferguson said: “It’s definitely a person, not the dog. I’ve been hearing rumors about the dog, it’s not the dog. It’s no animal, it’s a human being.”
We’re not sure we’re emotionally ready for this. Not at all.
Over a month ago co-creator Christopher Lloyd spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the situation:
“We’re handling some bigger life events in this season,” he told the magazine. “We do deal with a death, which is certainly a topic that families have to deal with, and on television, it’s not easy to do because that’s a heavy subject. But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it.”
