Its going to be violent with plenty of fatalities.

“Get over here!”

Ok, we know that catchphrase has absolutely nothing to do with the characters that have been cast in the new reboot of Mortal Kombat, but who doesn’t love Scorpion’s iconic line from the beloved games?

Well, after news that The Raid’s Joe Taslim has landed the role of Sub-Zero, the producers of Mortal Kombat have made some new additions to the billing and they’re more exciting than executing the perfect fatality.

Chinese-Canadian actor Ludi Lin is set to play the role of Liu Kang in the upcoming live-action version of the video game, Variety has reported.

Of course, Liu Kang is a seminal character in both the original game and film, so we’re delighted to see him back in the ass-kicking tournament.

Lin recently played the kung fu ace Lance in the Season 5 episode of Black Mirror, Striking Vipers. He has also starred in Aquaman, Power Rangers, and Netflix’s Marco Polo.

Elsewhere, newcomer Sisi Stringer and Mehcad Brooks (Supergirl, True Blood) will play Mileena and Jackson “Jax” Bridges, respectively.

Tadanobu Asano (Thor: Ragnarok) is also in final negotiations to play Raiden.

Produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, Aquman) and directed by Simon McQuoid, the reboot of Mortal Kombat is expected to be released in March, 2021 – it’s set to begin shooting in Adelaide later this year.

A few weeks ago, the film’s writer, Greg Russo, confirmed that the new version of Mortal Kombat will be R-rated and feature fatalities.

Altogether now…FINISH HIM!
