Spielberg's best film is among the movies on TV tonight
One of Tom Cruise's best performances to boot.
It's Thursday, and you know what that means.
It means a load of great films on your television screens while you avoid the serious heat going through the country at the moment.
Here's JOE's top picks for the best movies on TV this Thursday (14 July).
Pitch Black - ITV4 - 9pm
Vin Diesel's first outing as ultra-dangerous space criminal Richard B. Riddick.
Kramer vs Kramer - Great! Movies Classic - 9pm
This portrayal of divorce won multiple awards at the Oscars when it released in the late 70s, and it's easy to see why.
Minority Report - Film4 - 9pm
Our top pick for tonight is a sci-fi classic that we're particularly fond of in the JOE office.
So fond of it in fact, we think it's Steven Spielberg's best film.
Tom Cruise stars as a cop who is predicted to murder a man he's never met in his life, and so has to go on the run.
Great special effects, an interesting story, and a great performance from Ireland's own Colin Farrell. Well worth the watch.
Thelma & Louise - BBC4 - 9pm
A feminist masterpiece.
Saving Private Ryan - Channel 5 - 11pm
Another Spielberg classic, with the director creating a multi-Oscar winning war epic instead. Also, that iconic opening scene on the beach? Filmed in Ireland, if you'd believe it.
Armageddon - ITV4 - 11.15pm
Top tip; if you're going to watch this film, be sure to watch the Ben Affleck commentary afterwards. It's incredible.
Florence Foster Jenkins - BBC4 - 11.35pm
Meryl Streep earned her twentieth Oscar nomination for Best Actress following her performance in this biographical farce.
Daredevil - Film4 - 11.50pm
It's not quite as good as the MCU television series of the same name. Actually, it's a bit shocking.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Film4 - 1.55am
One of the worst X-Men films, but certainly not unforgettable, at least.
