Movies on TV Friday 13 September

FRIDAY THE 13TH!

Is, er, not on TV tonight, it seems.

Missed opportunity, lads.

Here’s the best of the rest on the box on this Friday 13 September…

Gremlins – TCM – 6.50pm

Don’t feed after midnight.

Full Metal Jacket – TCM – 9pm

In which war is hell.

Die Another Day – ITV4 – 9pm

Easily the most bizarre James Bond movie in the entire canon.

Elysium – SyFy – 9pm

A mechanised Matt Damon takes the fight to the uber-rich – including Jodie Foster with a strange performance – in Neil Blomkamp’s uneven sci-fi parable.

The Wolverine – E4 – 9pm

The precursor to the excellent Logan finds Wolverine in Japan, battling bad guys.

Chappie – RTÉ 2 – 10.30pm

Neil Blomkamp again, staying within the realms of futuristic dystopia in this tale about an oppressed highly-intelligent robot reprogrammed to do good.

If you like it when Hugh Jackman chews the scenery, this one is for you.

Drive – SyFy – 11.10pm

Ryan Gosling lets his actions do the talking over a killer soundtrack in this violent, neon-coated cult hit.

Jagged Edge – RTÉ One – 11.50pm

Jeff Bridges goes on the trial for the murder of his wife.

Army of Darkness – Film 4 – 12.40am

The third Evil Dead movie, and the ‘least best but still decent’ one.
