Movies on TV Friday 15 February

Living for the weekend, Hard-Fi style.

Remember Hard-Fi?

But wait, we’re not here to talk about music. Oh no. It’s movies that you want.

Seek and ye shall find, friends. Here is the rundown of the most acceptable films on the television this evening, Friday 15 February…

The Adventures of Tintin – Film 4 – 6.50pm

Not to be confused with Tintin from The Crow, who was a very nasty piece of work indeed.

Steven Spielberg’s tribute to a beloved cartoon adventurer is much more family-friendly.

Spectre – ITV2 – 8pm

For a time, it looked like Spectre would be Daniel Craig’s last outing as 007. Let’s hope he goes out on a higher note.

Speaking of high notes, did you know that ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ by Sam Smith is the single worst Bond theme ever recorded? Yes, worse than that Madonna one.

Bullitt – ITV4 – 9pm

Steve McQueen oozes cool in a downright classic, boasting one of the most iconic car chases in the history of cinema.

Murder by Numbers – Virgin Media One – 10pm

Wounded cop Sandra Bullock investigates a series of murders as high school students Ryan Gosling and Michael Pitt loom ominously in the background.

The Bodyguard – RTÉ 2 – 10.30pm

Kevin Costner. Whitney Houston. A song that everyone knows.

Nightcrawler – BBC Two – 11.05pm

Jake Gyllenhaal bugs his eyes out and goes all in in the name of some truly distressing journalism.

Senna – ITV4 – 11.20pm

Highly acclaimed documentary showcasing the life of late Formula 1 driver Aryton Senna.

The film that bears his name is excellently constructed, even if does shy away from the more murkier elements of his story.

Attack the Block – Film 4 – 11.35pm

Joe of Adam & Joe fame directs a clever, funny and razor-sharp tale of inner city UK youths doing battle against well-drawn sci-fi invaders who mean them much harm.

Featuring a breakout performance from Star Wars man John Boyega.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
