BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND, YO!

It’s Friday.

It’s the Bank Holiday.

It’s your selection of movies on TV.

Here we go.

FRIDAY 25 OCTOBER

Spy – Film 4 – 9pm

Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham send up the world of espionage.

12 Rounds – SyFy – 9pm

John Cena goes all Hollywood action man in this convoluted Saw-style thriller that sees him having to battle through a series of traps in order to save his girlfriend.

Aidan Gillen is on villain duties, if that seals the deal for you.

Taken – E4 – 9pm

If you prefer Liam Neeson kicking ass, the original Taken is still good craic.

The Expendables 2 – Dave – 9pm

Easily the best of these.

Snatch – Comedy Central – 10pm

Vintage Guy Ritchie knockabout action.

The Hangover – ITV2 – 10.05pm

The first one.

The Fault In Our Stars – RTÉ 2 – 10.30pm

Effective enough if wildly emotionally manipulative weepy with the acting talents of Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley.

Timecop – SyFy – 11.10pm

In which the future version of Jean-Claude Van Damme sports a mullet for reasons unknown.

Fright Night – Film 4 – 11.20pm

Decent horror remake that boasts Colin Farrell as the vampire next door.

The Producers – RTÉ One – 11.50pm

Not-as-good remake of the classic musical as Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Uma Thurman and Will Ferrell get on their dancing shoes.

Albert Nobbs – BBC Two – 12.10am

Glenn Close received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in this 19th-century Dublin drama about a butler with a highly personal secret.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
