21 Bridges – Virgin Media One – 10pm
Our pick for tonight is this 2019 movie starring the late and great Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) as NYPD Detective Andre Davis.
After a number of his colleagues die in a New York shootout, Davis convinces the city’s deputy mayor to shut down the 21 river crossings of Manhattan for one night only in a bid to trap and catch the two suspected cop killers (Stephan James, Taylor Kitsch). However, as Davis investigates, he discovers there is more to the case than meets the eye.
Directed by Northern Irish filmmaker Brian Kirk, 21 Bridges is an exciting, pacy and twisty action crime thriller that is given extra heft thanks to the way its script explores some of America’s societal problems and on account of its great cast, which also includes Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons, as well as Keith David and Sienna Miller.
