Movies on TV Monday 11 March

A new week emerges.

Yep, it’s Monday.

A tricky enough day. Cobwebs around the eyes, awkward meaningless conversations in the kitchen with co-workers and the threat of excessively inclement weather.

Best sack the entire thing off and watch a movie or two.

Here’s your line-up for tonight – Monday 11 March – on the box…

Outbreak – SyFy – 9pm

Dustin Hoffman, Morgan Freeman and Rene Russo struggle to manage an, er, outbreak of a deadly virus.

Lucy – Film 4 – 9pm

Scarlett Johansson gets pumped full of drugs and essentially becomes superhuman. Can she fend off a gang of thugs out to reclaim their product? Probably.

The Taking of Pelham 123 – TCM – 9pm

Excellent ’70s crime thriller not to be confused with the flat remake in which a transit police detective must outwit a ruthless criminal who has hijacked a train.

Elle – Film 4 – 10.45pm

Controversial rape-revenge thriller from Paul Verhoven that boasts an exceptional performance from Isabelle Huppert.

Deliverance – TCM – 11pm

Four city friends head off to the wilderness for some adventurous recreation, only to be met with true survival horror.

Rocky – ITV4 – 11.30pm

The original and best.

The Bling Ring – Film 4 – 1.20am

Emma Watson heads up a gang of spoiled rich kids who decide to spend their free time robbing even more affluent folk than they. It’s a social commentary, or something.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
