Movies on TV Monday 17 December

Monday.

For some, the first day of a new week.

For those who follow the traditional calendar system, the second.

Really feels like the first though, doesn’t it?

So on this Monday – 17 December – we present to you the following movie options to enjoy on your television this evening…

Eye in the Sky – Film 4 – 9pm

Helen Mirren and the late Alan Rickman head up a smart drama that takes the ethical nature of drone strikes into account.

Event Horizon – SyFy – 9pm

Spooky, Hellraiser-tinged 90s sci-fi horror action.

JOE’s Rory Cashin has made a strong argument that Event Horizon deserves more love, and you may read that case right here.

War of the Worlds – TG4 – 9.30pm

Tom Cruise rarely plays a deadbeat dad type and he does so very well here in Stephen Spielberg’s 2005 remix of the H.G. Wells classic sci-fi disaster.

Jaws 2 – Virgin Media One – 10pm

It was a different film, it was a different shark!

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three – TCM – 11pm

The original and best version of the train-focused thriller with a freeze-frame ending for the ages.

RED – Film 4 – 11.05pm

Want more Helen Mirren? Here you are.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
