One of the best horrors of the 1980s is among the movies on TV tonight

Movies on TV Monday 6 September

A new week.

It is Monday, my friends.

Good weekend? Perhaps you suffered through the Ireland / Azerbaijan encounter, went to a festival or just chilled out with friends.

You may even have taken in a movie or two. Regardless, there are other cinematic delights available on your television screen.

Here’s the most arresting options on Monday, 6 September…

Commando – Film 4 – 9pm

Arnold Schwarzenegger brutally murders many men.

Robocop 3 – ITV4 – 9pm

The third one.

United 93 – TG4 – 9.30pm

For the week that’s in it, Paul Greengrass’ grounded, ‘no movie stars in the cast’ docudrama-style account of the events of September 11, 2001 remains sobering and powerful all these years on.

Mickey and the Bear – Film 4 – 10.50pm

Understated, critically-acclaimed independent drama in which a teenager struggles to carve out a life of her own in the face of opposition from both her war veteran father and her slacker boyfriend. The relatively underrated James Badge Dale (Iron Man 3, The Grey, The Departed) stars.

Death Race – ITV4 – 11.10pm

I’m certain this was on ITV4 about three or four nights ago but it’s decent Jason Statham action if you’re in the mood of a Monday night.

The Lost Boys – TCM – 11.35pm

In our pick for the evening, Kiefer Sutherland heads up a troupe of remorseless vampires that take pleasure in terrorising a Californian beach town.

Joel Schumacher’s horror-comedy is rightly regarded as one of the most iconic films of the 1980s and comes with a killer soundtrack to boot.

Yes, including the saxophone guy.
