Movies on TV Sunday 14 April

Who doesn’t love a good Sunday movie?

Clowns, that’s who.

No offence to the clowning community; you guys do important work.

As we write this, Teen Wolf is on Channel 4, but that’s not one of our selections because it’s almost over.

That’s how ruthless this ‘Movies on TV’ game gets, folks.

With that in mind, here’s the best of the bunch on this Sunday 14 April…

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York – Film 4 – 6.40pm

In which Kevin goes full murderous sociopath.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King – ITV2 – 6.40pm

The one with 200 endings.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army – ITV4 – 9pm

Excellent, odd and beautiful work from Guillermo del Toro that ends on a cliffhanger that will now never be completed, thanks to the brand new and by all accounts, quite dreadful reboot.

Jaws – RTÉ 2 – 9pm

Shark attempts to mingle with locals.

Sahara – Film 4 – 9pm

Matthew McConaughey goes all Indiana Jones, gets a tan.

The Vanishing – SyFy – 9pm

Kiefer Sutherland embarks on a desperate quest to track down his missing girlfriend in a remake that ultimately pulls its punches.

The Usual Suspects – ITV4 – 11.25pm

If you can get past the presence of both Bryan Singer and Kevin Spacey, this is still one of the sharpest thrillers of the ’90s.

Joy – Film 4 – 11.25pm

Jennifer Lawrence shakes up the exciting world of mopping.

The Ides of March – BBC One – 11.30pm

Ryan Gosling and George Clooney get involved in a political mess.

Top Five – Channel 4 – 11.55pm

Alternatively sensible and raucous rom-com fronted by Chris Rock.
