Movies on TV Sunday 18 November

We did it.

Just like Rocky.

We got through the weekend.

That’s what Rocky was about, right?

Anyway, Rocky is not one of the films on TV tonight – Sunday 18 November – but there is a good clutch to choose from regardless…

Back to the Future – Channel 4 – 4.30pm

You know this one. It’s good.

Pleasantville – SyFy – 6.2opm

Clever and funny satire about 1950s America with a great cast that boasts Tobey Maguire, Jeff Daniels, Reese Witherspoon, Joan Allen, William H Macy and the late J.T. Walsh.

Robin Hood – ITV2 – 8pm

The one with Russell Crowe. Has its moments.

Die Hard 2 – Film 4 – 9pm

Deserves more love than it gets.

The Village – SyFy – 9pm

If you don’t know the twist, see how long it takes you to guess.

Lone Survivor – RTÉ 2 – 9pm

Fair warning, Lone Survivor is as over-the-top American patriotism as it gets, with more than a dash of ignorant xenophobia thrown in for good measure.

If you can stomach that, you might find admiration for Peter Berg’s exceedingly muscular approach to the depiction of a true-life US Navy Seal operation gone wrong.

Mark Wahlberg, Ben Foster, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Eric Bana make up the numbers.

Blade – ITV4 – 10pm

Because some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
