Saturday was good. How about Sunday?
We had a whopping 15 movies of note yesterday, which is not bad going at all as far as weekend movies go.
Let’s see what today looks like. Spoiler; there aren’t 15.
Here are your finest options in the ‘movies on TV’ realm this Sunday 24 March…
The Day After Tomorrow – SyFy – 7.30pm
Jake Gyllenhaal gets caught up in some difficult climate action.
Rock of Ages – ITV2 – 8pm
You have to wonder if Rock of Ages was released in the post A Star Is Born/Bohemian Rhapsody world, might it have done better.
Still, worth it for Tom Cruise eating all of the available scenery.
Die Hard 4.0 – Film 4 – 9pm
The turning point of the Die Hard franchise where it all started to go a little bit bland and John McClane became superhuman.
All that said, the fourth entry is decent craic, with strong action sequences and Bruce Willis kind of still caring.
Drive – SyFy – 11pm
Ryan Gosling wears a cool jacket, says very little, gets involved in ultra-violent scrapes to one of the coolest soundtracks of the past decade.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides – BBC One – 11.1opm
I’ll level with you. I had to look up which Pirates movie this was.
The fourth one, apparently.
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans – Film 4 – 11.35pm
If you think you’ve witnessed Nicolas Cage at his most Nicolas Cage but haven’t seen Bad Lieutenant, then you really haven’t seen Nic Cage going full Nic Cage.
Hitchcock – Channel 4 – 2am
You up? Anthony Hopkins steps into the shoes of one of the great filmmakers.
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
