Movies on TV Thursday 27 January

T H U R S D A Y.

It’s Thursday, so you know what that means.

Movies. It means movies.

Specifically, movies on TV.

Here’s how it looks on Thursday, 27 January…

Transformers: Dark of the Moon – Film4 – 5.55pm

That’ll be the third one.

Goldfinger – ITV4 – 8pm

James Bond battles the man with the Midas touch.

Old Boys – Film4 – 9pm

Not to be confused with the superlative Korean vengeance thriller (or its terrible Spike Lee remake), this comedy centres on a love triangle in a 1980s boys’ school.

Payback – Turner Classic Movies / TCM – 9pm

Mel Gibson’s tough-guy con artist is betrayed and left for dead by his criminal underworld buddies.

Roused and in search of a very specific amount of money, he sets out for, er, payback.

Bad Boys – SyFy – 9pm

Famous science fiction film Bad Boys, there.

Death Wish V: The Face of Death – ITV4 – 10.15pm

They made five of these?

Ex Machina – Film4 – 10.55pm

Our pick for tonight.

Domhnall Gleeson plays a programmer who gets more than he bargained for when he wins a contest to meet his reclusive boss Nathan, played by Oscar Isaac.

Sci-fi drama ensues as Nathan’s new project is revealed; a lifelike robot (Alicia Vikander) whose unnerving presence brings about deadly consequences.

Kill Bill: Volume 2 – TCM – 11.05pm

Uma Thurman’s bloodied bride concludes her roaring rampage of revenge.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
