It’s from one of the Oscar-winning directors of Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Sadly, the weekend is not quite here yet. That said, you can still kick back and relax with a good film this Thursday night.
Here are the movies airing on TV this evening.
Beasts of the Southern Wild – AMC – 9pm

The Spy Who Dumped Me – Film4 – 9pm
Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon play best friends who become entangled in an international conspiracy in this action comedy.
Above the Law – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm
The quite decent film debut of Steven Seagal.
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth – Horror Xtra – 9pm
Pinhead comes to New York City in what is one of the better Hellraiser sequels.
Convoy – Legend – 9pm
Helmed by legendary filmmaker Sam Peckinpah (Straw Dogs, The Wild Bunch), this ’70s road action comedy stars Kris Kristofferson and is based on the hit novelty country song ‘Convoy’.
Jesus Christ Superstar – BBC Four – 9pm
The 1973 adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber rock opera.
The Woman in Black: Angel of Death – Sky Sci-Fi – 9pm
Daniel Radcliffe did not return for this lackluster ghostly sequel.
Our pick for tonight is 2019’s The Death of Dick Long
Rambo – ITV4 – 10.15pm
The extremely violent fourth entry in the saga of John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone, who also directed the movie).
Whale Rider – AMC – 10.50pm
This critically acclaimed New Zealand drama follows a 12-year-old Māori girl (Keisha Castle-Hughes) whose ambition is to become the chief of the tribe.
Lethal Weapon 4 – Turner Classic Movies – 11.05pm
A buddy cop sequel starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.
Death Trench – Legend – 11.05pm
This World War I set zombie horror starring Rossif Sutherland (Possessor) has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Death of Dick Long – Film4 – 11.15pm
Last but not least is our pick for tonight – this 2019 US indie comedy-drama about two friends who try to keep the illegal circumstances of their other best friend Dick’s death secret, something which proves difficult in small-town Alabama.
Directed by Daniel Scheinert (one of the filmmakers behind this year’s Oscar Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All at Once), The Death of Dick Long’s story goes to some very, very dark places. That said, critics generally enjoyed the movie’s black comedy and surprising plot revelations, with the film earning a solid 74% Rotten Tomatoes score.
