Movies on TV Wednesday 2 January

It’s over.

Christmas. New Year’s. Done and dusted.

Game over, man. Game over.

Back to reality. You’ll need a movie or two to get you through this midweek slump.

Oh yeah, it’s Wednesday (2 January) in case you weren’t sure.

Here are your movies-on-TV options tonight…

Die Hard 4.0 – Film 4 – 9pm

Die Hard loses blood and profanity but the fourth outing for John McClane is genuinely quite fun, even if it does boast some dated indulgences (hey kids, remember parkour?) and a weak villain.

It’s also the movie where McClane becomes ludicrously superhuman but the stunts are strong, the plot moves at a clip and Justin Long isn’t too annoying for once.

Passenger 57 – ITV4 – 9pm

Wesley Snipes IS passenger 57!

Hard to Kill – ITV4 – 10.50pm

Steven Seagal IS hard to kill!

Drive – SyFy – 11pm

Ryan Gosling lets his actions speak for him in Nicolas Winding Refn’s patient, violent modern cult classic.

Exceptional soundtrack, too.

Bruce Springsteen: In His Own Words – RTÉ One – 11.15pm

The Boss in his own words.

The Lobster – Film 4 – 11.35pm

Colin Farrell stars in a very strange look at the dating world, courtesy of director Yorgos Lanthimos, who is the guest on the latest episode of The Big Reviewski.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
