Movies on TV Wednesday 24 April

Pretty big football match on tonight.

Yep, it’s the Manchester Derby.

The fate of the Premier League itself apparently rests on the tired shoulders of Manchester United, as their City counterparts pop in for a tense visit.

Given that United have been woeful since Ole was permanently welded to the wheel, this one might be a grim foregone conclusion.

Why not watch a movie or two, instead?

Here’s your cinematic options on this Wednesday 24 April…

Clueless – E! Entertainment – 8pm

The Mean Girls of its day.

Mechanic: Resurrection – TCM – 9pm

Did we need a sequel to Jason Statham’s remake of The Mechanic? No.

Is the follow-up a bit scattershot and phoned-in? Yes.

Is it still a bit of craic, with Statham once again being enough of a reason to tune in? Also yes.

Transsiberian – True Movies – 9pm

More mystery films should be set on trains.

Star Trek Into Darkness – Film 4 – 9pm

In which Benedict Cumberbatch plays exactly who you think he does.

You Only Live Twice – ITV4 – 9pm

Bond. Connery. Japan. The ’60s.

Daredevil – SyFy – 10pm

Some people think 2003’s Daredevil is a misunderstood gem.

We’re not about to make that claim, but it is strangely watchable.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
