€4 tickets for all movies in participating cinemas for one day only

National Cinema Day is back, baby!

2022's National Cinema Day was such a roaring success, with over 200,000 tickets sold in just one day, that there was no way it couldn't come back again this year.


And so it has been confirmed that 2023's National Cinema Day in Ireland will take place on ... (drum roll please) ... Saturday 2 September, with tickets for films in participating cinemas dropping to just €4 each!

Patrick Kielty's new movie Ballywalter will be having a special advance screenings as part of National Cinema Day, while other movies that can viewed for just €4 on the day include Apocalypse Clown, Barbie, The Blackening, Blue Beetle, The Equalizer 3, Haunted Mansion, Meg 2: The Trench, Oppenheimer, Passages, Strays, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Theatre Camp.

National Cinema Day will see €4 tickets for big screen visits across all of Ireland


99% of cinemas across Ireland are taking part in this initiative, with participating cinemas including: Arc Cinemas, Carrick Cineplex, Century Cinemas, Cineworld, Eclipse Cinemas, Eye Cinema, Gate Cinemas, IFI Cinemas, IMC Cinemas, Light House Cinema, Movies@ Cinemas, Odeon Cinemas, Omniplex Cinemas, Pálás Cinema and Reel Cinemas. Vue Cinemas are selling tickets for €3, with an additional 90 cent online booking charge.

Tickets for National Cinema Day can be purchased through the websites and at the box office of the participating cinemas from today (Sunday 27 August). Audiences are advised to check local cinema listings, or can visit www.cinemaday.ie as a central online location to see what is screening at their local cinema.

Mark Anderson, the Director of Omniplex Cinemas, had the following to say about the initiative: "Cinema has been much loved in Irish society for over a century and we are delighted, alongside most of the other cinemas in the country, to participate in National Cinema Day by offering €4 tickets for all shows, all day, including new releases. It is important for the industry to celebrate cinema and what better way to do that than by enjoying a movie or two on the 2nd of September. There will be something for everyone to enjoy!
