National Symphony Orchestra to perform special live version of Jurassic Park for 25th anniversary

Rory Cashin

Welcome… to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

Regarded as one of the most successful science fiction adventures ever made, Jurassic Park transformed the movie-going experience for an entire generation.

The movie went on to win all three Academy Awards for which it was nominated: Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Visual Effects.

One that it wasn’t nominated for though was Best Score, which is surprising considering how considering iconic that music actually is. (Not that it mattered too much to composer John Williams, as he went on to win that year anyway for Schindler’s List, aka his other movie that year with Spielberg.)

Since the movie was released in 1993 – do you feel old yet? – the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra will be performing the John Williams’ incredible score live to picture, which will be projected in high definition on the big screen at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Saturday 8 September at 7.30pm.

Tickets start at €21 and can be purchased right here.

In the meantime, let us enjoy a little bit of that oh-so-spine-tingly music:
