Netflix has just added 30 big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

Big blockbusters. Great rom-coms. And, arguably, one or two of the great films of all time.

Not to be confused with the original movies that are being added in October, and also not to be confused with the 17 spooky new movies that have been added for October/Halloween, below are 30 new movie arrivals to Netflix to enjoy throughout October.

Some are good, some are great, some are just good fun, and they’re all available to watch right now, starting with…

The Amazing Spider-Man

Andrew Garfield fights the Lizard, falls in love with Emma Stone.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Andrew Garfield fights Electro, Green Goblin and the Rhino, continues to fall in love with Emma Stone.

Austin Powers in Goldmember

The third outing for Austin Powers sends him back to the ’70s, where he teams up with Beyonce.

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

The second (and best?) AP movie, with Austin losing his mojo and travelling back to the ’60s to retrieve it.

Body of Lies

Ridley Scott puts Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in this tense CIA thriller.

Carlito’s Way

Al Pacino plays a criminal trying to go on the straight and narrow, but is forced back in to the life of crime by those around him.

Clueless

Alicia Silverstone heads up one of the greatest teen comedies of all time.

Contagion

The all-star pandemic movie that we’ve all pretty much watched at least once over the lockdown.

Due Date

Robert Downey Jr. and Zack Galifiankis hit this road trip with the director of The Hangover.

Fight Club

Depending on who you ask, this is either one of the greatest movies of all time, or just one of the most misunderstood, homoerotic comedies of all time.

Get Rich or Die Tryin’

This is to 50 Cent what 8 Mile was to Emimen. Directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In The Name of the Father).

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

The improved sequel sees Nic Cage’s demonic hero directed by the guys behind Crank. Madness ensues.

The Green Mile

Tom Hanks fronts this super sad supernatural drama set in a prison.

Heat

No matter who you ask, they’ll all agree this crime epic definitely is one of the greatest movies of all time.

The Invention of Lying

In a world where nobody is capable of lying, one man (Ricky Gervais) discovers he is capable of telling fibs.

Jumper

Hayden Christensen (remember him?) is one of a select few in the world gifted with the ability of teleportation, much to the dismay of a nasty government organisation, fronted by Samuel L. Jackson.

Knight and Day

Tom Cruise is the government agent who has gone rogue, and Cameron Diaz is the innocent bystander who keeps accidentally crossing his path.

Kung Fu Hustle

A young criminal pretends to be part of a notorious gang in order to swindle a small town out of their money, but he doesn’t realise that the locals have some kung fu masters ready to put him back in his place.

Love & Other Drugs

Jake Gyllenhaal plays a pharmaceutical sales representative and serial womaniser who has his life turned upside down by a young woman (Anne Hathaway), who is suffering from early-onset Parkinson’s disease.

Marley & Me

Jennifer Aniston. Owen Wilson. A big cute dog. You will cry.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are a moderately happy married couple who discover they’ve both been hiding a big secret… they’re both secretly world-class assassins.

No Strings Attached

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher are good friends who decide to become friends with benefits… but can they keep emotions out of the bedroom?

Pain & Gain

Mark Wahlberg, The Rock and Anthony Mackie star in this crime-comedy-thriller from Michael Bay.

Office Christmas Party

An incredibly stacked cast star in this movie about… well… it is right there in the title. Although we’d probably recommend you wait until at least 1 November to check this one out…

Saving Private Ryan

Spielberg’s war epic has Tom Hanks and his squadron looking from Matt Damon behind enemy lines in the midst of WWII.

Spider-Man

Tobey Maguire’s first outing in the red spandex still holds up very well nearly 20 years later.

The Terminal

Spielberg and Hanks again, this time telling a sometimes funny, sometimes sad story of a man who is forced to live in an airport terminal when his home country collapses while he’s travelling to New York, essentially making him a man without a nationality.

The Town

Ben Affleck stars and directs in this brilliant crime drama, playing a high-profile bank robber who begins to fall in love with one of his hostages (Rebecca Hall) following a heist.

Vantage Point

An assassination attempt on the US President’s life is shown from many, many different perspectives, including his head of security (Dennis Quaid), local reporters (Sigourney Weaver) and nearby tourists (Forest Whitaker).

What’s Your Number?

Anna Faris, Chris Evans and Chris Pratt star in this rom-com about a woman convinced the love of her life is someone she has already dated and dumped.
