A load of big action, rom-com, horror and drama movies have just been added to Netflix.
It is the first week of January, and Netflix knows we need some distractions. So many folk have decided to do Dry January, and it is mostly too cold and/or wet outside to do anything… outside’y.
So here are 30 big movies that Netflix has just added to its library for us to enjoy, starting with…
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
If Doctor Dolittle was raunchier, this would be the end result. The movie that essentially launched Jim Carrey’s hugely successful career.
The Age of Innocence
Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder star in Martin Scorsese’s much-loved period romantic drama.
Baby Driver
Writer/director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) turns his hand to the heist/getaway driver action genre.
Bad Boys / Bad Boys II
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence headline this pair of mostly still very entertaining (but staggeringly dumb) action movies.
The Bank Job
Jason Statham stars in this actually really good bank heist movie.
The Change-Up
Y’know those Freaky Friday movies, where a mom and her daughter swap bodies? This is like that, except its two best friends – Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman – and it is VERY adult.
Crank
Jason Statham again, in arguably his very best movie, an absolutely insane, OTT action thriller.
The Croods
A very impressive voice cast – Nic Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, loads more – feature in this fun, prehistoric animated adventure.
Daddy Day Care
Eddie Murphy starts a day care centre run by unemployed dads. It is… fine.
Drive
The movie that had the entire world simultaneously fancy Ryan Gosling.
Enough
Jennifer Lopez escapes from her abusive partner, and begins physically and mentally preparing herself for his return.
Halloween
The 2007 remake. Not great.
Hellboy
Ron Perlman’s first outing as the big red hero is better than David Harbour’s version a few years later.
Inkheart
The story of a man (Brendan Fraser) who can bring fictional book characters to life. Not great.
Just Go With It
Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman star in this holiday disguised as a rom-com.
Maid In Manhattan
J-Lo again, this time as a down-on-her-luck hotel employee who becomes to object of a powerful politician’s affections, played by Ralph Fiennes.
Mrs. Browns’ Boys D’Movie
No.
The Ninth Gate
Johnny Depp stars in this weird horror movie about a rare book dealer who discovers a text that may be able to communicate with the devil itself.
Power Rangers
The recent big budget adaptation. Not the worst movie ever made, but… (shrugs)
The Raid / The Raid 2
Literally two of the best action movies ever made. Enjoy them as a double-bill.
Sex and the City
The big screen adventures of Carrie and co.
Step Brothers
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly star as two older men suddenly forced to be each other’s step siblings. Still mostly very funny.
Tremors
One of the best mixes of horror and comedy ever made, with a small town finding itself under siege by giant, subterranean worms.
Untraceable
A violent serial killer thriller, centred around a detective (Diane Lane) who investigates online threats.
War
Yet another Jason Statham movie, this is a bad one, where he fights Jet Li.
Warrior
Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton star in this fighting drama set within the world of MMA.
White Noise
The writer and director of Oscar-magnet Marriage Story turns to the apocalypse for his latest all-star comedy.
Wrong Turn
Eliza Dushku headlines this violent horror about a group of friends who get attacked by strangers in the woods.
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
