“Are they supposed to be this chewy?”
One of the reasons we all love The Great British Bake Off so much (and we do, and so do you, so there’s no point in denying it) is because on top of getting our saliva glands kicked into overdrive, there’s also the pure enjoyment of watching people doing something that they truly love to do, and being really good at it, too.
Which is the exact opposite reason why people have been falling in love with Netflix’s alternative cake-baking show, Nailed It.
In it, a number of home-bakers – who really treat it as more of a hobby than an actual passion – are thrown into the deep end and asked to come up with some truly outstanding cake-concoctions (Cake-coctions? Con-cake-tions? We’ll come back to that one…), and whomever gets the closest approximation of the masterpiece wins $10,000.
And, of course, while they get to say they “Nailed it!”, there is even more joy to be discovered from those who are forced to say that they failed it…

All six episodes of the first season of Nailed It were made available to viewers over the weekend, and to say that folks had a great time watching the absolutely horrid end-results that some of the bakers came up with is a bit of an understatement…
