Amazon Prime Video has just quietly added 18 big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

Some properly huge films have been added to the streaming service this week.

Not sure what to watch tonight?

If you’ve got Prime Video, then we’ve got you covered, because at least one of these is bound to be exactly what you’re in the mood for.

Alex Cross

Tyler Perry replaces Morgan Freeman in the serial killer thriller series based around talented detective Cross. This one… is not very good, to be honest.

Body Of Lies

Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe headline this CIA thriller, written by the guy behind The Departed, directed by Ridley Scott. It should’ve been incredible. Instead, it was only okay.

Broken City

Mark Wahlberg is the ex-policeman who is determined to get revenge of the city’s Mayor (played by Russell Crowe) after he is framed for a murder he didn’t commit. Again, should’ve been great, but this is a bit of a snooze.

Dead Snow

A fun comedy-horror about a group of students who attempt to survive a zombie Nazi attack in the Norwegian mountains.

The Devil’s Rejects

A grim, violent horror-comedy about a group of serial killers going on an absolute rampage.

Dumb & Dumber

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels struck comedy gold with this buddy classic. The prequel, Dumb & Dumberer, has also been added, but we don’t talk about that one.

Everything Everywhere All At Once

Arguably 2022’s best movie. Definitely one of them, at the very least.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Nic Cage got the directors of Crank to take over his comic book series. It is a bit more OTT, but still never quite revs up the way you’d hope it to.

Honey

We all have a soft spot in our hearts for Jessica Alba’s “classic” dance movie.

Legend

Two Tom Hardys for the price of one in this true-life crime drama.

The Legend Of Tarzan

A great cast – Alexander Skarsgard, Margot Robbie, Christoph Waltz – and the director of the best Harry Potter movies. Another example of “This should’ve been a lot better.”

Let The Right One In

The 2009 classic chiller about a young girl who happens to be a very old vampire, who befriends the lonely young boy who lives her in her apartment block.

Life

Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence headline this comedy drama about two best friends who get sentenced to life in prison.

Macbeth

A stylish but gritty adaptation of Shakespeare’s masterpiece, with Michael Fassbender as the titular king and Marion Cotillard as his devious wife.

The Nutty Professor

Eddie Murphy again, this time playing several different characters in this dumb-but-fun rom com. The sequel, The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, has also been added, but we don’t talk about that one.

The Tourist

Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie co-star in this Hitchcockain romantic-thriller about a case of mistaken identity. The real mistake was made when someone allowed this stinker of a script to be made.
