New on Netflix November 2021

Something for the weekend?

Good old Netflix, there for us when the nights get that much colder.

Seriously, it’s dropping to minus temperatures this weekend and then there’s that whole ‘skyrocketing Covid cases throughout the country’ problem we’re presently facing.

Might be an idea to just chill out in front of the fire with a movie.

Or 10 of them.

It just so happens Netflix has added 10 brand new movies in the past few days.

What movies, you ask? Read on…

Detective Pikachu

Pikachu is there for the Pokémon fans / Ryan Reynolds is there for the Ryan Reynolds fans.

9

Post-apocalyptic animated sci-fi adventure featuring the vocal talents of Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connolly and Christopher Plummer.

Nanny McPhee

Emma Thompson steals the show in this arch Victorian fantasy.

Love Actually

Netflix promised it would be available for Christmas, so fill your festive boots.

It’s Kind of a Funny Story

Comedy-drama adaptation of the 2006 novel of the same name; this film focuses on a teenager’s psychiatric issues and the various characters he meets along the way.

End of Watch

A high-tension cop thriller with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña.

Doom

The Rock and Karl Urban head up a dangerous mission to Mars.

Fear

One from the ‘trashy 90s thriller’ hall of fame starring a young Mark Wahlberg as the boyfriend from hell.

The Piano

Jane Campion is in the news this week, both for directing The Power of the Dog and for having the sheer audacity to say that she hates superhero films. How very dare she.

The Piano is not a superhero film, that’s for sure. Instead it’s a patient and challenging period drama that features some fantastic acting from Holly Hunter, Harvey Keitel, Sam Neill and Anna Paquin in her debut film role.

Bruno

Sacha Baron Cohen does his outrageous thing.
