There are definitely some True Detective vibes going on here.

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Destroyer.

Plot’s it all about?

We do sometimes forget that Nicole Kidman can be a tremendous actress. She’s already won an Oscar for her performance in The Hours, and has been nominated for her parts in Moulin Rouge!, Rabbit Hole and Lion. That is without mentioning her amazing turns in the likes of The Others, To Die For, The Killing Of A Sacred Deer, or recent TV turns in Big Little Lies and Top Of The Like.

Destroyer sees Kidman team up with underappreciated director Kusama (the very good The Invitation, the better-than-you’ve-heard Jennifer’s Body) to tell the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results.

When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.

While a lot of attention will be paid to Kidman’s dramatic physical transformation, it is the kind of big change that – matched with a killer Kidman performance – could land her Oscar No.2.

Starring: Nicole Kidman, Sebastian Stan, Toby Kebbell, Scoot McNairy, Bradley Whitford, Tatiana Maslany

Directed by: Karyn Kusama

Irish release date: 25 January 2019

Enjoy!
