“Freeze, you diseased rhinoceros pizzle.”
What’s a prince without his most loyal and trusted companion? In the comedy classic Coming to America, Semmi might not have enjoyed himself as much as Randy Watson and his band Sexual Chocolate, but who does?
Throughout the course of the film, Arsenio Hall played the role of the pampered but hilarious Semmi to perfection and we’re delighted to say that he’s making a return for the sequel.
Aside from his role as Prince Akeem’s best friend, Hall’s talents as a comedian were there for all to see as he put on prosthetics to play a plethora of characters including Morris, Reverend Brown and a female version of himself when the two lads went on the search for love in Queens.
This scene will always be fantastic.
Anyway, with news that the sequel is 100% going ahead, plenty of fans were curious if Arsenio Hall would be returning alongside Eddie Murphy and the actor has confirmed the good news via his official Twitter account.
As for the plot of the new film, we’re told that: “Akeem learns about a long-lost son, and must return to America to meet the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.”
The as-yet untitled Coming to America sequel is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 7, 2020.
All we need now is a cameo from Randy Watson and the lads in the barbershop.
