OFFICIAL: Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are working together again on a murder mystery

The dream team are back together for the sixth time.

This week has been a very busy one for Leonardo DiCaprio because the Oscar-winning actor (feels good to say that, doesn't it?) has released the trailer for the new documentary series that he's producing, Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle.

This being said, his frequent collaborator and close friend Martin Scorsese is no slouch too because he's busy applying the finishing touches to his new gangster epic, The Irishman, ahead of its release on Netflix - you can read more about that film here.

Hollywood is famous for directors and actors frequently working together but very few duos can rival the standard of work that DiCaprio and Scorsese have made together.

Gangs of New York. The Aviator. The Departed. Shutter Island. The Wolf of Wall Street.

Well, you can add Killers of the Flower Moon to this prestigious list because the two men will be working together on the historical murder mystery that's an adaptation of David Grann's best-selling book.

Variety has confirmed the project will be Scorsese’s next directorial effort and that production is set to commence in summer 2019.

The film has been written by Eric Roth, his screenplay for Forrest Gump won an Oscar.

With regards to the plot, Killers of the Flower Moon is set in 1920s Oklahoma and revolves around the Osage Nation murders, in which members of a Native American tribe were murdered one by one after the group became rich from the oil found that was discovered on their land.

The murders attracted the attention of the newly created FBI, who set out to investigate the crimes.

"When I read David Grann’s book, I immediately started seeing it — the people, the settings, the action — and I knew that I had to make it into a movie. I’m so excited to be working with Eric Roth and reuniting with Leo DiCaprio to bring this truly unsettling American story to the screen," Scorsese said in a statement.

In terms of their more immediate film projects, DiCaprio is finishing up production on Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while Scorsese is in post-production on his gangster epic, The Irishman.

Truth be told, we're delighted to see them working together again.
