“Oh God, all the responsibility is on me now!” – Tenet star Robert Pattinson on the pressure of having to nail a Christopher Nolan set-piece

Paddy McKenna

“I’m going to mess this up…”

Tenet has arrived with a big ole backways bang, dividing opinion and confusing viewers in equal portions.

If you haven’t seen it yet, do not fear, there are no spoilers here, there are only tidbits to whet your appetite for Christopher Nolan’s time-twisting thriller.

Tidbits like star of the show, Robert Pattison talking about the pressure of working with one of the great modern movie directors, the man responsible for Momento, Inception, Interstellar, and a series of nature documentaries about bats or something, dunno if you saw any of those.

Speaking to JOE’s Eoghan Doherty for The Big Reviewski, Pattinson gave an insight into the pressure that comes with having to nail a Nolan set-piece.

“There were so many elements, and such a, kind of, clockwork intricacy to everything happening,” the English actor said.

“Where everyone’s rehearsed a sequence again and again and again and when you suddenly, as you see all the pieces come into play and you’re doing everything backwards as well, you just start thinking, “OK, I’m almost to the end of the scene and then suddenly the panic starts rising in you because you’ve seen, like, so many things!

“It’s almost gone right and you’re like, ‘Oh God, ALL the responsibility is on me now! I’m gonna mess this up!’

“It’s kind of, it’s fun and terrifying at the same time!”
