The creators of The Blair Witch Project have said they would 'love to make an Irish horror film'.
JOE caught up with Blair Witch director Eduardo Sánchez and producer Gregg Hale ahead of the release of their new, and very compelling, found-footage horror thriller, The Influencer Project.
When asked about the idea of making a horror movie here in Ireland, it turns out they are very interested.
Producer Gregg Hale revealed a 'big part' of his heritage is Irish, influencing his 'affinity for dark hills kind of folklore'.
"I think in the United States a lot of witch stories are kind of British Isles, Irish-y, Scottish-y anyway, I've always kind of felt that Blair Witch had a little Irish vibe.
"I'd love to make a movie, an Irish horror film," he continued.
The response was also enthusiastic from director Eduardo Sánchez.
He said: "Not that I don't like making movies in the US, but the idea of like making a movie elsewhere, I think is really exciting, especially a horror movie, because a place like Ireland where obviously it's not a scary place, but there's so much history there and there's so much mythology and I think you could really tap into it.
"As a filmmaker going overseas, it makes you an outsider just because you are. I think that that kind of can, can bleed itself into the movie," Sánchez added.
Their newest offering, The Influencer Project follows real-life British influencer Chiara King who plays a version of herself traveling to Copenhagen alongside a documentary crew. However, things take a turn when an masked internet stalker uses her daily posts against her, to follow and terrorize her.
The Influencer Project is in cinemas now and will come to DVD, Blu-ray and all major digital platforms on 30 November.
