Lost City, a new Irish crime thriller starring John Connors (The Galway Bay Murders, Love/Hate), will hit cinemas very soon.
From documentarian Seán Murray (Unquiet Graves) in his feature drama debut, the movie follows a boxer in Belfast named Paul (Martin McCann, Blue Lights). His life is finally beginning to get back on track when he starts a relationship with a woman (newcomer Jade O’Neill) with a troubled past.
"But when her violent ex-boyfriend, a notorious Limerick gangster (Connors), follows her to Belfast, Paul is drawn into a dangerous criminal underworld as he attempts to protect the woman he loves," the plot synopsis
The cast of Lost City includes Oscar nominee Stephen Rea (The Crying Game), as well as Ciaran McCourt (Obituary), Geraldine Hughes (Gran Torino), Graham Earley (Broken Law), and Jade Jordan (Amongst the Wolves).
The crime thriller was filmed on location in Belfast with support from Northern Ireland Screen. It will have its world premiere as the opening movie of the Belfast Film Festival on Thursday, 29 October at 7pm at Cineworld Belfast. The director and cast members will be in attendance.
Ahead of the premiere, distributor Wildcard has acquired the Irish and UK rights to Lost City.
Patrick O’Neill, Managing Director at Wildcard, said in a statement about the movie: “Lost City is a gripping crime drama which brings together a fantastic cast and a compelling story rooted in Belfast.
"Seán Murray has made an impressive transition from documentary filmmaking to bold, character-driven drama, and we’re delighted to bring the film to cinemas following its world premiere at the Belfast Film Festival."
