There was only one scene in The Boys that Amazon told the makers to cut

Considering what they left in, you know it must’ve been BAD…

We’re not going to beat around the bush here: we loved The Boys.

You can read our full review here, but in short, it is the kind of profane, overly violent, overly sexual shot-in-the-arm that the superhero genre needs every now and again.

If you’re thinking “But JOE, isn’t that what Deadpool is?”, well, the answer is this: is there a scene in Deadpool where an Ant-Man’y powered superhero shrinks to such a small size that he basically jumps, uhm, inside his girlfriend to make sure she, eh, has a good time?

Or another super-powered superhero lady who is having such a good time that she accidentally pops her lover’s head wide open as she climaxes?

Is there a full-on superhero orgy?!?!

No. Deadpool didn’t do that. We would have remembered.

The Boys was adapted from Garth Ennis’ (Preacher) controversial graphic novel series by showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural) for Amazon Prime Video (you can watch the full first season now), and when Kripke took to Reddit for an AMA session, he was asked if there was anything they had to cut.

It turns out there was, but just one thing:

“There was ONE SCENE that Amazon said ‘F*CK NO, you have to cut’. I couldn’t quite understand why considering everything else we have in the show, but Homelander, after being dressed down by Stilwell [Elisabeth Shue] in episode 2, was standing on one of the Chrysler building Eagles. He pulled his pants down and started jerking off, mumbling ‘I can do whatever I want’ over and over again until he climaxed all over New York City. We shot it! Oh my God, Anthony was the BEST in that scene.”

There was also another season that was dropped, but not because of censorship; Kripke told Entertainment Weekly that it was purely for budgetary reasons.

“An ice man having sex with a woman doggy-style when she’s wearing a fur coat. It was rejected because it was logistically too difficult to mount on our budget,” he said.

However, Kripke also said that he is making that scene a priority for Season 2.

The man knows his priorities, at least.
