Michael Keaton executive produces and stars in the series.
For TV lovers always on the lookout for a new gripping series, JOE recommends they keep an eye out for Dopesick which is sure to be one of 2021's biggest shows.
Premiering this autumn, it stars and is executive produced by Michael Keaton (Birdman, Spotlight) and focuses on the opioid crisis, the worst drug epidemic in American history.
The plot synopsis states: "The series takes viewers to the epicentre of America's struggle with opioid addiction, from the boardrooms of Big Pharma, to a distressed Virginia mining community to the hallways of the DEA."
On top of the important subject matter, there is a wealth of talent behind the show.
As well as Keaton, Dopesick boasts a phenomenal cast including Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart), Michael Stuhlbarg (Boardwalk Empire), Peter Sarsgaard (Jarhead), Rosario Dawson (Trance) and Will Poulter (The Revenant).
Meanwhile, it's written by Danny Strong (Empire) and directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Wag the Dog).
Dopesick is set to premiere on 13 October on Hulu in the US and is expected to be released in Ireland through Star On Disney+ sometime after that.
