The actress Margot Kidder has passed away at the age of 69.
Kidder was best known for her role as Lois Lane in the original Superman movie franchise, in which she starred alongside the late actor Christopher Reeves and which ran from 1978 until 1987.
The Canadian-American actress and activist also featured in the TV series Smallville, and films such as The Amityville Horror and Halloween II.
She died in her home on Sunday (13 May) in Livingston, Montana.
According to the BBC, the cause of her death is not yet known.
