Ben Whishaw will continue to voice the beloved bear.
Paddington fans, rejoice. He’s coming to the small screen.
The iconic bear has enjoyed a new lease of life thanks to two incredibly heartwarming movies over the last few years, with audiences and critics charmed alike.
There’s a third movie in development, with no release date lined up just yet, but that’s okay because StudioCanal and Nickelodeon are teaming up for a brand new TV series.
Variety reports that Ben Whishaw will return to voice Paddington for the show, which will be aimed at pre-school audience, airing on Nickelodeon’s worldwide networks in 2020.
“Paddington is such a beloved character for all of us at StudioCanal,” CEO Didier Lupfer said.
“We are incredibly happy to be back in his world introducing new generations to his kindness, generosity and spirit.”
Award-winning producer David Heyman will oversee the CGI-animated venture, having previously produced the Paddington movies as well as all eight Harry Potter films.
Splendid news all round, really.
