"It's like we're seeing something that we're not supposed to be seeing..."
You don't have to look very far to discover that culture-altering real-life dramas are among the most popular form of entertainment at the moment.
We're talking about The Crown, House of Gucci, the Britney Spears documentaries, The People v. O.J. Simpson, and so on.
But when it comes to huge landmark moments in the popular zeitgeist, you'd be hard pressed to find one more renowned than the story of Pam & Tommy.
Directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella, Lars and the Real Girl) and written by Rob Siegel (The Wrestler, The Founder) the upcoming mini-series will tell the true story of celebrity couple Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan), and the unauthorised release of the sex tape that they recorded during their honeymoon.
The series also stars Seth Rogen, Nick Offerman and Taylor Schilling. The first-look trailer below cleverly gives an insight into the lead-up and subsequent fallout of the distribution of the sex tape, and the double-standard reactions that impacted both Pamela and Tommy.
Pam & Tommy debuts in the States on 2 February 2022, and we should expect it to premiere on Disney+ in Ireland around that date.
