Paul Mescal is set to follow his Emmy nominated breakthrough role in Normal People with another exciting Irish project.
Deadline reports that the 25-year-old actor has landed a lead role in a new Irish thriller titled Bring Them Down.
Set in the west of Ireland, the film will follow an Irish shepherd who is drawn into a violent conflict with a neighbouring farm when his sheep are massacred by unknown men.
The directing debut of Christopher Andrews, the film will co-star Tom Burke, who recently had a major supporting role in David Fincher’s Netflix movie Mank playing legendary filmmaker Orson Welles.
Screen Ireland are involved in funding the new film with production set to commence later in the year.
Bring Them Down is another exciting project on the horizon for Mescal.
He will next appear on screen in The Lost Daughter, the directorial debut of actress Maggie Gyllenhaal.
The drama focuses on a woman whose beach vacation takes a dark turn when she begins to confront the troubles of her past.
Olivia Colman, Dakota Johnson, Peter Sarsgaard and Jessie Buckley will also appear in the film.
Mescal will also be starring in Carmen, a movie filming currently based on the musical and novella of the same name.
Burke, meanwhile, also stars in TV series Strike and has had supporting parts in the films Only God Forgives and The Souvenir and the shows The Crown and Utopia.
