Peaky Blinders star discusses the dramatic cliffhanger which unfolded during the ballet

Paul Moore

Some fans are absolutely delighted about the fate of Linda Shelby.

As always, if you haven’t seen the most recent episode of Peaky Blinders, consider this to be your spoiler alert warning.

Seriously, look away now.

Dating a member of the Shelby family rarely ends well.

Over the course of five seasons, we’ve seen various heartbreaks and tragedies befall the likes of Freddie Thorne, Esme Shelby, Grace Shelby, and countless others.

Even the more successful relationships – Tommy and Lizzie (if you deem their marriage a success given the way Tommy treats her) and Gina and Michael are incredibly frayed.

However, you can kind of see why all of the aforementioned characters were romantically involved with a member of the Shelby family because one common truth unites them, they’re all comfortable living in the dangerous and violent world of the Peaky Blinders.

This isn’t the case when it comes to Linda.

After all, she’s a Quaker and has frequently tried to get Arthur to abandon his life of violence in Birmingham.

Sadly, as we saw in the third episode of Season 5, that’s not possible.

After hearing that his wife was spending time with another man, Arthur lost the plot and took a razor blade to his face.

“I’m a good man. I’m a fucking good man, like you. A god-fearing man. There’s good in my heart. There’s good in my heart!.. But my hands.. these hands belongs to the devil. The fucking devil,” he said.

Well, in the most recent episode of the show, an incensed Linda Shelby (Kate Phillips) was about to exact her revenge by killing Arthur. However, Linda was shot by Aunty Polly instead.

During an interview with Digital Spy, Kate Phillips discussed the dramatic finale to the episode.

“That’s what’s cool about the scripts is that you read them like you’re a crazed viewer, you’re desperate to find out what’s next in your story – when your own storyline becomes that cliffhanger at the end of the episode, it’s quite intense. It was a real shocker to read and it’s always cool to be part of the twist, as well. It was also, unbelievably fun to play, that evening was a night shoot and I’ve never been so cold in my life.”

As fans will know, the Season 4 finale led us to believe that Arthur had died when he didn’t, so we’ll have to wait and see if Linda is 100% dead.

We’re pretty sure that she is but you never know.

However, this hasn’t stopped some fans from expressing their delight that Linda is potentially dead.

Poor Linda.
