Peaky Blinders star says Season 5 will be ‘even better’ than what’s come before

Paul Moore

Peaky Blinders Season 5

Time to get excited… by order of the Peaky Blinders!

Tommy Shelby has never been a man to get overly emotional and express his feelings.

Hell, that’s a large part of his character arc as, after returning from the war, the smartest man in Small Heath has continuously suppressed his grief and anguish via whiskey, smokes, and his most famous distraction, work.

Hard as it is to get to grips with him, there’s one man who seems to know Tommy better than most, Johnny Dogs.

Played brilliantly by the incredibly likeable Packy Lee, Johnny is fiercely loyal to the leader of the Peaky Blinders and he’s one of the few men that they trust wholeheartedly. He even performed the wedding ceremony between John and Esme!

Throughout the four seasons of the show, you always get the impression that no matter how powerful Tommy gets, Johnny Dogs always treats him the same way and that he’ll always view Tommy as the ‘Gypsy boy’ that he knew from a young age.

Johnny Dogs was also one of the few people to see Tommy openly grieve after he lost Grace – remember the scene when Tommy goes back to his roots by sneaking off to Wales in Johnny Dogs’ wagon to see if Grace’s sapphire was cursed? – and he’s pretty useful in a fight too.

All things considered, he’s an integral part of the Peaky Blinders gang and after the show won the award for Best Drama at the NTAs, Packy Lee thanked all the fans who voted and promised that Season 5 is even better than what came before it.

Truth be told, Season 4 of Peaky Blinders was incredible and now that filming on the new episodes has finished, we’re absolutely pumped to see what’s in store.

Bring. It. On!
