How many have you seen?
We might be in the midst of the summer blockbuster season but there’s still plenty of nostalgic love for Irish films. A recent online trend has asked people to name their favourite Irish films and there’s some absolute gems.
As you’ll know, this year has been a remarkable one for the Irish film industry with Oscar nominations for Saoirse Ronan, Michael Fassbender, Lenny Abrahamson, Emma Donoghue, Ed Guiney and a win for Benjamin Cleary.
We all have our favourite Irish films, but what’s yours? Personally speaking, we’ll always have a huge amount of love for Colin Farrell’s finest performance with In Bruges and who can deny the everlasting appeal of the world’s hardest working band, The Commitments.
After a call-out by the excellent Irish film website Scannain, here’s some of the choice selections.
