The biggest UK comedian by an absolute mile is Peter Kay and his stand-up tours dwarf any of his peers’ in sheer magnitude and ticket sales. A lot of that success is built from the brilliant TV show Phoenix Nights, the cult comedy he wrote and starred in on Channel Four.

Although they only recorded two series comprising of 12 episodes in total, it is still revered as a cult classic and there have long been rumours of a third series being in the pipeline. It now looks like that there could be some substance behind those rumours as Peter Kay hinted at a recent charity gig in Blackpool.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Kay announced over the weekend “I am going to be making a big announcement about Phoenix Nights sometime in the next 10 days, so fans need to be watching out for that.”

The rumours are rife that Kay is in talks to turn his hit Channel Four comedy series into a new live stage show, as well as the possible return to TV in 2015.
