PIC: Christian Bale is unrecognisable as Dick Cheney in promo for new movie Vice

Christian Bale

He’s not Bruce Wayne anymore.

Christian Bale has always taken a lot of credit for his transformations. For The Machinist, he lost 60lbs. He then had to gain 100lbs back the next year as he started work on Batman Begins.

This time around, Bale has had to put on over 100lbs to play former US Vice President Dick Cheney. So we’re not talking 100lbs of muscle.

And that’s not all that’s changed about him.

Bale will play Cheney in Vice, the upcoming movie from Adam McKay, who also directed Bale in the Big Short. Given that Bale is not only very handsome, but also only 44-years-old, the casting choice was met with a lot of surprise and skepticism.

A first look at Bale in the new role shows him looking unrecognisably old, grey and jowly.

McKay’s movie, which will open in cinemas around Christmas, is packed with stars — including Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney, Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld and Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush. It will tell the story of one of the United States’ most powerful and mysterious vice presidents.

We cannot wait for this one.
