We can’t wait to see Straight Outta Compton, but it won’t hit cinemas until August next year.

For any fans of hiphop or rap, NWA’s Straight Outta Compton is one of the seminal albums. Credited with starting the Gangster Rap era, the the 1988 album introduced Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy E, MC Ren and DJ Yella and The Arabian Prince to the world. Since it’s release, the fates of the men involved couldn’t be any different and Universal are now to make a movie about the group and life after the album that made them infamous.

Ice Cube and Dre are producers on the flick and they both posted the same picture on Twitter, showing both of them, plus director F. Gary Gray with the three actors who will play Cube, Dre and Eazy E, who passed away in 1995.

Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr will play his father, Jason Mitchell (above centre) will play Eazy-E  and Corey Hawkins will play Dre.

We don’t really know what the movie will cover, but Eazy-E’s death from AIDS-related pneumonia in 1995 and the subsequent careers in movies for Cube and production and headphones for Dre give the makers plenty of material without ever discussing the groups music and many fallings out.
