Over 70 actors have previously played Sherlock Holmes. Now he's 93 years old and it's my turn. #MrHolmes pic.twitter.com/B9HkUgfkCv

This story will be dealing with the slow deterioration of the detectives brilliant mental powers. The book takes place in 1947 when Holmes is 93, retired and frustrated by his diminishing powers of recollection.
The story takes Holmes to post-war Japan where he encounters the son of a former British diplomat that had mysteriously disappeared before the war. Holmes doesn't remember the man but he feels the familiar pull of a final unfinished case.
McKellen has worked with fellow Sherlock Holmes actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Sir Christopher Lee in The Lord of the Rings film series and JOE is excited for this one. We are big fans of his work and think that a different take on Holmes can only be a good thing.
Also, any excuse to show this photo again is very welcome.
