PIC: Making a Murderer victim’s death certificate raises more doubts on the Steven Avery case

Alan Loughnane

Making A Murderer

The controversy continues…

Teresa Halbach’s death certificate has been obtained under the Freedom of Information Act and it raises further questions of Steven Avery’s guilt.

The document, along with hundreds of others, is available to view online at stevenaverycase.org, and many people on the internet have noticed discrepancies in the official document.

Screen Shot 2016-03-07 at 19.54.15The original cause of death on the document was listed as “Undetermined” but this is crossed out. “Homicide” is also listed on the document as a cause of death.

The document further indicates that an autopsy was already carried out but the date and time on the document suggest that it was filled out before the remains of Teresa Halbach were found.

The document was also filled out a full six weeks before the DNA evidence used in the case was even confirmed to exist by the FBI.

The report declares Teresa Halbach dead on November 10, the day before Steven Avery was charged with her murder and just the day after the Calumet County coroner received her bone fragments. According to some, this is a rather short timeline.

At this moment, it seem unlikely that this document alone will have a significant impact on the case but it’s interesting to see the discrepancies and mistakes on a supposedly official document.
